Summer Time Hydration!

If you’re an active individual, you know that when Summer hits, you may need to tweak your nutrition and routine. One thing that we're focusing on as we enjoy this beautiful (and hot) time of year is hydration!

Hydration is a key attribute to keeping you feeling your best throughout the long and hot Summer days. Here are some must know tips and tricks about hydration!

  1. If you’ve heard of the 8x8 rule, you’re on track to the correct daily consumption! This rule states that drinking 8, 8 oz. glasses (or 2 liters) of water per day is the average you need to be hydrated. However, if you are an active individual you may need more.
  2. Chia seeds have been on the market for a long time, but only now we are learning the abundance of attributes they have – including hydration. Chia seeds absorb 30x their weight in water! Mix a small amount of Chia seeds into water or juice, and stay hydrated for longer, as Chia seed slowly release through your digestive system, throughout the day.
  3. If you’re having trouble drinking the recommended amount of water, we suggest adding some fruit to give it some flavour. Using fruits such as lemon, limes and even berries can add much needed boost to your water.
